A Life Worth Binge Watching
S2 E14 Good Vibes Only
Last week, I shared my horrible experience at the Gainesville Marriott Aloft. This week I will shift gears and talk about my awesome experiences with a few Airbnb properties. I will first say that I’m a huge fan of Airbnb stays, and will choose them over hotels almost every time when I am traveling for pleasure. Obviously, they are more comfortable and spacious, but many of them have unique qualities that make them memorable and a true addition to your travel.
I will start with my most recent stay in Atlanta.
We took a family girls’ trip to unwind. While there, my daughter and her friend went to the Morgan Wallen concert while my Mom and I met up with a local friend. I chose a property that was central to downtown and the amphitheater. A quaint two story home nestled in the middle of a neighborhood gentrification project, the homes were new or recently remodeled on our street, although the area nearby was a bit run down.
The home itself was adorable.
It was extremely clean and the decor was chic and Instagram-worthy. There were three bedrooms, so we all had our own space. The kitchen was nicely stocked and there was a pool table upstairs.
The living room had a greenery backdrop behind the couch with a cute “good vibes only” neon sign, and outside, was a patio with bulb lights draped across. The host was extremely helpful and we had a great time!
The next property I enjoyed was in Fort Worth. In a previous column, I wrote about my 50th birthday trip with some of my best friends. Once again, I had chosen a central location that was near the Stockyards and Downtown. It was an easy 10 minute Uber ride to pretty much everywhere we needed to go. We all had our own rooms which was great for getting ready and also for enjoying down time at the end of the night. The kitchen was spacious and there was a fenced in patio out back. The living area had a great fireplace and TV above. My friend even parked her semi outside on the curb for the night and it was completely fine. The host at this one was pretty accommodating, although we did have a suggestion that they should add a full length mirror in at least one room, as you know, we are women!
My favorite property was so awesome we stayed there two years in a row! It was in a quaint little town called Evergreen, just a hop, skip and a jump from Denver, Colorado. It was actually a barn that was converted into an Airbnb, which sat on a beautiful homesite with horses. When we arrived we were greeted by a sweet black cat who we came to love.
We stayed at the Barndominium over the Christmas holiday and it was decorated beautifully with tasteful holiday pillows, knickknacks, and a small tree with colorful lights. The bedrooms were very large and overlooked the beautiful tree-lined fields. During one of our stays, we woke up to snow on the ground, a true White Christmas!
It was so fun to feed the horses carrots each day, and sit out on the balcony in the evenings. This hidden gem was so convenient to the Hallmark-like town just a few miles away. The host was extremely accommodating and remembered us from the year before. This place will always be special to us.
I am looking forward to discovering more fantastic, unique Airbnb stays during my travels!
I think the key to choosing the best one is to do your research.
I always read the reviews and ask questions before I book. There are typically cleaning fees associated and always check on the parking arrangements. In my opinion, if you are traveling with multiple people the extra space is worth it.
