FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. – Some people celebrate turning 50 with a big party.
Scott Fox decided to throw one—and then give every dollar away.
If you’ve spent any time around Flagler Beach, chances are you’ve crossed paths with Fox. Whether he’s greeting customers at Tortugas Florida Kitchen & Bar, lending a hand to a local fundraiser, or rallying the community through Flagler Strong, he’s built a reputation for having one of the biggest hearts in town.
Now he’s inviting everyone to celebrate two major milestones in one unforgettable day: Tortugas Florida Kitchen & Bar’s 10th anniversary and his own 50th birthday. The catch? Instead of gifts, Fox hopes to raise $50,000 for the Flagler Beach Fire Department and Flagler Beach Ocean Rescue.
The aptly named Ignite the Night! promises to be less about blowing out candles and more about lighting up the community.
“This isn’t about me,” Fox said. “For 10 years, Flagler Beach has supported Tortugas, and we wanted our anniversary to be about giving back to the people who protect this community every single day. We’re bringing in phenomenal music, celebrating a decade of memories, and raising vital funds for our local fire and ocean rescue heroes.”
Hosted by Flagler Strong, the free, family-friendly event takes place Saturday, July 18, from 2 to 10 p.m. in the parking lot of Tortugas Florida Kitchen & Bar, 608 S. Oceanshore Blvd. While admission is free, attendees are encouraged to donate generously throughout the day. Silent and live auctions, along with plenty of other fundraising opportunities, will help push the effort toward its ambitious $50,000 goal.
Of course, no beach birthday bash would be complete without great music.
The evening’s headliner, U2-2U, brings the sights, sounds, and stadium energy of one of the world’s most legendary rock bands. Before they take the stage, concertgoers will enjoy performances by Michael Constantino, Sober Cafe, and hometown favorites The Greentree Brothers, creating a full afternoon and evening packed with entertainment.
The celebration also marks a decade of Tortugas Florida Kitchen & Bar serving up island flavors, live music, and unforgettable memories along the Flagler Beach coastline. Over the years, the restaurant has become much more than a place to grab dinner—it’s become a gathering place where friendships are made, milestones are celebrated, and the community comes together.
Now, that same spirit is being turned into something even bigger.
Every dollar raised will directly benefit the firefighters and ocean rescue professionals who respond when emergencies happen on the beach, in the surf, and throughout the community. From lifesaving rescues to emergency response, these hometown heroes answer the call every day, often without fanfare.
On July 18, the spotlight belongs to them.
So whether you come for the music, the food, the auctions, or simply to celebrate a local business that has spent the last decade investing in Flagler Beach, you’ll also be helping make a lasting difference.
