On June 3, 2021, Commander Burroughs visited three local schools to present three exceptional students with awards for being “Great Kids” for the month of May 2021.
“We are ending the school year with presenting three remarkable kids in Flagler County with the Sheriff’s Great Kid Awards,” Sheriff Staly said. “The kids receiving the awards for May are all doing wonderful things throughout our schools and community. They’ve shown many leadership qualities, as well as kindness and respect to their teachers and peers. We want them to know we appreciate their efforts and hope they’ll continue to represent our county in great ways. We are here to help and support their goals in every way possible.”
Brayden Murray is a 4th grade student at Imagine School Town Center (ISTC) is a participant in the PAL
Run Flagler Race Series. On our first race of the spring series Brayden showed his amazing integrity by ensuring none of our runners had to run alone. Brayden completed his own race and ran alongside each of our race finishers for the next few races to provide support and encouragement to get them to finish strong. He exemplifies the true personality traits of a “great kid” and great friend. We are lucky to have him as part of our school family!
Grayson Blanchard is a 7th grade student at Buddy Taylor Middle School (BTMS). The FCSO recognizes him for maintaining “A” honor roll in his advanced classes, honoring the responsibility that is required to maintain progress with his schoolwork and individual goals; he is a model Eagle and a model citizen in Flagler County, following all of the BTMS expectations, and treating his classmates and school staff with the utmost respect.
Michael De Beauvoir is a senior at Matanzas High School (MHS) and is very deserving of the May Great Kid award. He has participated in the Flagler Beach clean-up, and the food pantry and food distribution. He is also a full-time volunteer during the April Blood Drive with One Blood and Key Club. Michael is a student who continues to exemplify great behavior and supports those around him.
The “Great Kid” award is presented by the Sheriff to a student selected by School Resource Deputies who show respect for their peers, help others, work hard to do well in academics, and represent themselves, their family, and their school with great character. The recipients for the awards are nominated by Flagler County Sheriff’s School Resource Deputies and Flagler Schools and are awarded on a monthly basis to one elementary, middle, and high school student.
