Palm Coast resident Rick Meyer will be competing in the Men’s Singles division at the 2024 Minto US OPEN Pickleball Championships powered by Margaritaville on April 14th in Naples, Florida. The event is the largest and most prestigious pickleball tournament in the world.
A record 3,000+ amateur and professional pickleball players of all ages and skill levels from all 50 states and nearly 30 different countries will once again gather from April 13-20 to compete.
“I’ve been training hard and am excited to play in the “Super Bowl of Pickleball,” Rick stated. Rick is motivated for more than one reason. “I’m also excited to use this opportunity to spread the word about Provision Packs. Provision Packs provides weekend meal packages to kids that receive the majority of their meals at school during the week but do not have a reliable food source on weekends. Provision Packs feeds over 1,000 children every week in thirteen elementary schools in both Flagler and Volusia Counties. The cost of one weekend meal package is $9 dollars. Rick encourages anyone that would like to learn more or donate to feed a child over the weekend, to contact him at rc.meyer101@gmail,com.
There is a $150,000 pro prize purse, and a record number of players. Known as the “Biggest Pickleball Party in the World™,” the 40,000 spectators create an electric atmosphere at East Naples Community Park — the largest permanent pickleball facility in the world.
The event will be streamed daily on Pickleball Channel with the women’s and men’s pro action broadcast live on CBS Sports Network on Friday April 19 from 4-7 pm and Saturday April 20 from 5-9 pm ET.
Pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in the country. A recent study indicated that more than 36 million people had played the sport. Information on the Minto US OPEN Pickleball Championships is available at www.USOPENPickleball.com. You can follow the event on Twitter | Facebook | Instagram.
