Palm Coast – Join the City of Palm Coast for a Memorial Day Ceremony, “Remembering America’s Heroes,” on Monday, May 31 from 8 – 9 a.m. at Heroes Memorial Park, 2860 Palm Coast Parkway. Parking is available along Corporate Drive and at the Library.
The annual ceremony is open to all ages and honors the men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our country. Heroes Memorial Park is a special place for Palm Coast because it recognizes those in the military and law enforcement who have given their lives in the line of duty. Branches of the military are honored with engraved granite monuments displaying names, along with a Purple Heart Memorial.
The ceremony will include guest remarks from U.S. Rep. Michael Waltz. The Matanzas Army JROTC will perform the Posting of Colors. A Gold Star Family will participate in the laying of the wreath.

Flagler County, FL (May 27, 2021) – Flagler County Public Library is embracing all children’s furry friends with its “Tails and Tales” Summer Reading Program that begins with a kickoff party Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Palm Coast Main Branch Library – located at the intersection of Belle Terre and Palm Coast parkways.
A coinciding photo contest will honor three beloved pets as mascots for the program.
“This is going to be a wonderful outdoor celebration,” said Library Director Holly Albanese. “We didn’t want anyone to worry about whether it is safe to attend an indoor event with their children, so we’re having it outside.”
Saturday’s event – sponsored and paid for by the Friends of the Library – will feature the Critter Caravan petting zoo (until 11:30 a.m.), a sidewalk chalk obstacle course, and tie dying for those who bring a piece of white clothing to transform. Critter Caravan is known for its miniature horse, miniature donkey, dwarf Nigerian goats, sheep, potbelly pig, silky bantam chickens, lion head bunnies, Guinea pig, and ferret.
Kona Ice will provide sweet treats as a relief from the heat. Free Summer Reading totes will be given out while supplies last.
“The Youth Services Department is thrilled to welcome back Flagler families for a special start to our annual Summer Reading program, and a return to our traditional programming schedule with performers and programs for all-ages,” said Youth Services Librarian Jessica Robayo. “Our library is more than just books, it’s a place for us to get together and have fun.”

Palm Coast, FL (May 27, 2021) – As the public we often are able to watch members of the television and motion picture industry learn their work has been nominated ahead of big awards shows or watch as their names are called from the stage, but it’s not often that a Flagler County local gets a call from a big name to learn a project he or she has worked on, won.
Recounting the call, Pastor Jearlyn Dennie, known to most as Pastor J, received the news just before hosting a community event on Tuesday evening, and knew it was a full circle moment.
Building relationships while working in Atlanta, Georgia late 2020 and early 2021, Dennie met and collaborated with Dr. Alveda King, niece of the legendary Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on several projects to educate African-American and Latino families about issues near and dear to her heart including school choice and pro-life.
It was while in creative development discussions with members of the team that Dennie came up with the idea of “The Miracle of Christmas” – focusing on the choices made by Mary regarding the birth of Jesus. She was quickly connected to professional animator Erick Tran, the lead animator for “The Simpson’s Movie” and longtime animator for The Simpson’s TV show. Tran had expressed interest in collaborating on a Christian-based project and worked quickly to bring the concept to life.

“The Miracle of Christmas” animated project goes far beyond then just capturing a moment in history or a holiday season we celebrate each year. It is a message of hope, redemption and life. It is a message that we need today more than ever. As a producer, artist, and director who has worked in Hollywood for over 24 years I can say this is one of the most important productions I had the opportunity to work on,” said Tran, Executive Producer of Ideal Media Entertainment, Chavvo Animation Studios.
The finished product was unveiled just in time to showcase on a Christmas Eve television program hosted by Dennie for the holidays. It was a joyful event Dennie was thrilled to share with the community when she returned to Flagler, and thought nothing more of where it could go from there.
Receiving a call from Tran to tell her that as executive producer of “The Miracle of Christmas” they’d picked up four Telly Awards, for the pastor, it was a near speechless moment.
“I was ecstatic to receive a call from Erick. When he asked for executive producer Pastor Jearlyn Dennie, I went along knowing it was him. To hear him say ‘congratulations’ and that we won four Telly Awards, I was in shock,” said Dennie.
“He and i both spoke about it being a Christian project and how amazing it was to win. We both kept repeating ‘four different categories’ over and over to each other,” she shared enthusiastically.
I am humbled to be part of such a great project that I hope will change the minds of those considering abortion,” said Dennie. “The Bible says that God knew us before we were formed in our mother’s womb. The four Telly Awards will help broadcast the message that the unborn are purposed by him.”
King expressed her delight at being part of the team to champion the unborn and educate the public.
“I was so blessed to be a part of Pastor Jearlyn’s team,” said King. “The issue of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness from the womb to the tomb deserves to be heard. The staggering rate of abortion in our nation is part of a global pandemic and the sanctity of life of the unborn is a civil right and needs to be honored.”

Palm Coast, FL (May 27, 2021) Adding one more name to the list of those leaving the City of Palm Coast, City Manager Matt Morton submitted his letter of resignation on Thursday, shocking the community.
Palm Coast City Councilman Ed Danko shared his surprise.
“I was surprised at this resignation,” said Danko. “I had no advance notice and I am looking forward to hearing the reason directly from Mr. Morton at the next city council meeting.”
Morton now joins the list of high profile staff turnover during the past two years for the city that began shortly after Morton took the helm in April 2019, and follows the recent resignation of the City of Palm Coast Mayor Milissa Holland on May 18th.
Vocal about Morton’s time with the city, Digital Communications Coordinator Jason Giraulo resigned on June 20, 2019, after nine years with the City of Palm Coast.
“Matt Morton’s ultimate legacy for Palm Coast is one of unending turmoil. His time here will forever be marked by massive staff turnover, unvetted hirings, and a looming ethics investigation,” said Giraulo.
“Ultimately I find his administration to have been a total failure. The real challenge now is where do we go from here. How do we attract the kind of City Manager candidate that will be willing (and able) to take on the mess that is being left behind, put politics and the past aside, and work for what is truly right for the City and its citizens.”

Palm Coast – On May 27, 2021, Matthew Morton has tendered his resignation as City Manager for the City of Palm Coast. In accordance with Morton’s employment contract, the resignation gives the Palm Coast City Council a 30-day notice.
In his resignation letter, Morton said, “I am proud of all that has been accomplished, which two years successive performance reviews attest to. We have built a citizen focused culture, managed a global pandemic emerging stronger, significantly increased metrics in foundations of livability, transparency, quality of life saw our financial condition and ratings improve.”
The Palm Coast City Council will appoint an interim City Manager in the coming weeks.

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) and the Town Center Community Development District (TCCDD) announced a private/public partnership enabling the purchase of license plate readers (LPR) for Town Center. The public/private partnership is valued at over $101,000.00 dollars.
Sheriff Staly has been working on a public/private LPR partnership with Allete, Inc. & Douglas
Development for one year. Allete and the Town Center CDD will be paying all costs associated with the LPR installations while FCSO will fund the monthly connection costs. Town Center CDD approved funding the project at its CDD Meeting on Friday, May 14, 2021, after a presentation by FCSO Sergeant Mike Lagana and a representative of Vigilant Technology. This was the last step needed to move forward with this public/private partnership whereby Allete, Douglas Property & Development & Town Center continue to give ahead to the community and provide law enforcement services for all the citizens of Palm Coast.
“As Town Center continues to attract high wage jobs and residents, we wanted to ensure Palm Coast remains safe for our visitors and residents,” said Jeff Douglas of Douglas Development. “The Sheriff’s Office has had huge success with LPR’s and we thought this would be a great partnership.”
LPRs are cameras that are either mounted permanently at a location or on trailers that can be moved around. When a car passes by the camera, the device scans the license plate and runs the tag through state and national databases. If the tag matches one that’s in the database, the system alerts an analyst and deputies in the field. Deputies can also input tags into the database if they’re searching for a vehicle.
Utilizing LPR technology allows for proactive policing, apprehension of suspects and fugitives, recovery of missing persons and stolen vehicles, and helps prevent crimes before they occur. FCSO began implementing LPR’s in 2018 and in 2020 alone, LPR “hits” resulted in 93 arrests, recovering 51 stolen vehicles, 15 fugitives arrested, 33 stolen tags recovered and 9 missing persons found.
“We appreciate the partnership with Allete, Douglas Development and the Town Center CDD to enhance the safety and security of the Town Center area,” said Sheriff Staly. “This technology revolutionizes crime-fighting in Flagler County by not only helping solve crimes, recover stolen property and help us locate fugitives, but it also aids in the recovery of missing individuals in the event of an Amber or a Silver Alert. When lives are on the line, every second counts. We’re glad to have another tool to advance our proactive and real-time crime-fighting techniques.”

On May 21, 2021, Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) Division Chief David Williams attended the twenty-third session of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Florida Executive Development Seminar (FEDS), sponsored by the FBI and the Florida FBI National Academy Associates, Inc. The seminar took place in Sandestin, Florida, from May 16 to May 21, 2021.
Chief Williams started with the FCSO on December 26, 2001. Before being promoted to Commander of the Community Engagement and Crime Prevention Section in 2018, he was part of the Motors and Traffic Unit as a Sergeant. He was selected as the City of Palm Coast Liaison in 2019 and in January 2021, Sheriff Staly promoted him to Chief of FCSO’s Organizational Services Division. As Chief, he commands Management Services, Human Resources, Accreditation, Training, and Special Projects. As Chief, he is the highest-ranking African-American in the history of FCSO.
“Being selected for this seminar and completing this course is a great honor and accomplishment,” Sheriff Rick Staly said. “We are always looking for opportunities to enhance our team to serve the community. Chief Williams attending and representing the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office allows our team to learn and network with colleagues around Florida to ensure we are implementing the best law enforcement practices in Flagler County. Thank you to the FBI for selecting Chief Williams and providing him with this opportunity.”
The FBI established FEDS as a training program designed to provide executive and management training to Florida Chiefs of Police, Sheriffs, and their command staff. It is an intensive 40-hour course that includes classes on leadership, management, ethics, and other topics of interest to Florida’s law enforcement leaders.
