ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — St. Augustine residents and visitors will soon be able to experience “The Biggest Lobstah Roll in Boston” in their own backyard as the popular New England Lobster sandwich shop plans to open a third location in the city later this year.
Lobstah on a Roll, 34 Granada St., will host a Grand Opening during the annual Nights of Light’s after a soft opening this week.
“The unique taste of New England will be on display, even in this decidedly more southern setting,” said Lobstah on a Roll owner Dave Spinney.
The small chain features handcrafted sandwiches, salads and house-made soups.
But it’s the oversized lobster rolls that serve up to 50 people that have turned Lobstah on a Roll into a must-try Boston destination.
“While we are bringing this regional delicacy to a whole new market, we see the St. Augustine location as more than just a place to get a great sandwich,” Spinney said. “We want to give everyone in the area a taste of a beloved New England tradition.
Behind Lobstah on a Roll’s take on the iconic meal is Chef Kenny Dupree, Manager of the Boston locations.
“We have taken great care to create a lobster roll that has become known as the biggest and best in Boston,” Dupree said. “Now Floridians will have the opportunity to see what all the fuss is about when they try one of our signature rolls.”
Visitors can get the standard Bostonian featuring a split top roll with four ounces of fresh lobster, or the New Englander, packed with a full six ounces.
And while the lobster roll may be new to many visitors to the Florida restaurant, Spinney said North will meet South with the inclusion of their Wicked Famous Fish Sandwich, an instant hit in the new location.
The chain’s signature Lobstah on a Roll has generated an almost cult following for them in Boston, but they are also known for their extensive assortment of seafood, side dishes and drinks that pair perfectly with the quintessential coastal fare.
“We have an assortment of items that will satisfy even the most discerning eaters,” Dupree said. “From our Lobstah Mac and Cheese to our New England Tacos, Lobstah on a Roll wants to be the first choice when it comes to fresh seafood staples.”
For those hesitant to dip their toes in the water when it comes to seafood, the chain also features various other sandwich selections, including the Boston Whaler, their take on a Classic BLT, the Sweet Caroline, a roasted turkey treat, the Minute Man, featuring slow roasted pastrami and the Harvard Yard Bird, with chicken, roasted red peppers and pesto aioli.
And for those just in the mood for traditional platters, Lobstah on a Roll delivers.
“We have clam, Haddock, scallops and shrimp available on our platter menu for those visitors looking for a traditional seafood meal,” Dupree said.
All items are available for dine-in, takeout and delivery. The restaurant can also cater events of all sizes.
“Whether five or 50, we have a Lobstah Roll that will fit your party’s needs,” Spinney said. “Come in, stop by or let us come to you. We are excited to serve the area some of the best seafood New England has to offer in our new St. Augustine location.”
Lobstah on a Roll will be open Monday through Saturday 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
