PALM COAST, Fla. – The thing that almost was is no more. At least for now. On Friday afternoon around 4 pm the City of Palm Coast shared the following via Communications Director Brittany Kershaw:

“As you may know, there was a special business meeting scheduled to follow the workshop meeting next Tuesday. The items for the business meeting were related to the westward expansion. That meeting has been canceled as the applicant has withdrawn the application. The withdrawal includes the annexation requests, comprehensive plan amendment, DRI abandonments, and other associated applications and agreements. The project is no longer under consideration by the City. Should the applicant wish to pursue the proposal in the future, the requests would need to be resubmitted to the City for consideration through the applicable review and approval processes.”

Attached included the “Dear John” letter.

The Westward Expansion has been a source of contention among residents for several years.

Palm Coast City Manager Mike McGlothlin shared a response on behalf of the city.

“The City of Palm Coast recognizes that the proposed Westward Expansion project has generated significant conversation and interest throughout the community, with residents expressing both support for and concerns about the proposal,” McGlothlin said.

“We understand and respect Raydient’s decision to withdraw the applications from consideration at this time. The City appreciates everyone who took the time to learn about the proposal, ask questions, and share their perspectives throughout the process. Should the applicant choose to pursue the project in the future, any new applications would be subject to the City’s established review and approval processes.”
