Ocean Art Gallery presents “Blurring the Lines,” a solo exhibition by national artist Christina Doelling (https://www.oagart.com/christina-doelling.html) running from November 4 through November 30, 2023. Opening Reception Saturday, November 4, 2023, 3 – 7pm.
“Blurring the Lines” is an ideal title for a show of Christina Doelling’s mixed media abstract art because, in addition to multiple layers of paint, Christina mixes in charcoal, graphite and oil pastels to add energy, interest, and dimension. Stylistically, areas of intense activity are often juxtaposed with areas of calmness in her compositions, which creates the emotion and mood in her work.
Texture and movement are very important elements in Christina’s mixed media paintings. Her original artwork looks incredible in all environments; whether seamlessly installed in a modern space, or mixed in with more traditional homes, adding a contemporary touch to the walls, and a fresh update to a room.
A full-time artist since 2002, she was chosen as an Emerging Artist by Art & Antiques Magazine early in her career, and since then her work has been featured in decorator show homes, on HGTV, and in numerous magazines. Christina’s beautiful, expressive paintings grace the walls of hundreds of collectors, and can be found in galleries throughout the Southeast.
Christina’s early life was in Europe, followed by the study of Fine Art at Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, New York, where she fell in love with Abstract Expressionism. After graduating with Highest Honors, she attended The Portfolio Center for Advertising, in Atlanta, followed by more than a decade as an art director in San Francisco and Atlanta. Christina now enjoys life as a highly regarded mixed media artist, with collections of her brilliant work in homes, offices and galleries in many states.
“Blurring the Lines” will have its Opening Reception during the Ormond Beach Art Walk on Saturday, November 4, from 3 – 7 pm at Ocean Art Gallery, 197 E Granada Blvd., Ormond Beach, FL. Christina will demonstrate her art technique for clients and guests. DB Roberts will provide live music and refreshments will be served. The free Art Walk Shuttle, sponsored by Advent Health, will depart from the Gallery for other art stops, returning frequently from the 30-minute route. www.oagart.com / 386.317.9400.
