Flagler Beach, FL – As the COVID-19 pandemic reaches the one-year mark, Rotarians from several area clubs and Northeast Florida’s Rotary Alumni Association have launched “Rotary Feeding Heroes” to provide lunch for 700 healthcare workers in Flagler and Volusia Counties.

“The goal of Rotary Feeding Heroes is to thank local healthcare workers for their courageous and selfless efforts,” said Roseanne Stocker, president of Rotary Club of Flagler Beach and co-chair of the Rotary District 6970 Alumni Association.  “A delicious meal goes a long way to boost morale and show our local hospital staff that we are grateful for their sacrifices and hard work.”

The Rotarians will deliver 300 meals to AdventHealth Palm Coast over three days in March (March 18, 23 and 24). The meals are being supplied by Tortuga’s Florida Kitchen and Bar, Beachfront Grille, Oceanside Beach Bar & Grill, Martin’s Restaurant, and Terranova’s Restaurant and Pizzeria, all in Flagler County. Each healthcare worker will receive a thank you note from Rotary and the community with their meal.

For the Volusia County event, food trucks will be on campus at Halifax Health Medical Center of Port Orange on March 25 where 400 staff members will be treated to lunch.

Rotary Feeding Heroes is spearheaded by Rotary District 6970 Alumni Association in partnership with the Rotary Clubs of Flagler Beach, Flagler County, Downtown Ormond Beach, Ormond Beach, Daytona Beach West and Ponte Vedra Beach. Funds raised by the clubs were matched by a generous grant from Rotary District 6970, resulting in approximately $7,000 being raised to purchase the lunches and say thank you to the healthcare workers.

This is the second installation of Rotary Feeding Heroes. In September 2020, the Rotary District 6970 Alumni Association raised over $1,000 to provide 100 meals to staff at UF Health Shands Hospital in Jacksonville.
