WASHINGTON, DC — Chair of the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure Peter DeFazio (D-OR) issued the following statement following President Biden’s nomination of Admiral Linda L. Fagan as the 27th Commandant of the United States Coast Guard. Commandant Fagan would be the first woman to ever hold the office.

“I applaud President Biden for his historic choice of Linda L. Fagan to be the 27th Commandant of the United States Coast Guard and the first woman Commandant,” Chair DeFazio said. “Admiral Fagan has served our country ably on all seven continents throughout her decades of service, and would be the first female service chief to serve in the nation’s armed forces. I congratulate her on her nomination and look forward to working with her in this new role once she is confirmed.”
