PALM COAST, FL (December 22, 2021) – Flagler County’s unemployment rate declined from 4.1% in November 2021 to 3.8% in December 2021, according to the latest data release from the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity. Flagler’s 3.8% unemployment rate is now the lowest it has been in 23 months.
Flagler County employment grew from 46,855 in November 2021 to 46,902 an increase of 47 jobs. The number of unemployed residents in Flagler County dropped from 1,990 in November 2021 to 1,877 in December 2021, a decrease of 113 residents. Meanwhile, the labor force declined from 48,845 in November 2021 to 48,779 in December 2021.
Greg Blosé, President & CEO of the Palm Coast-Flagler Regional Chamber of Commerce said, “The continued success of Flagler County residents finding work is an encouraging sign. However, most businesses are still dealing with several issues in regards to hiring. The Omicron variant of COVID has caused more employees to miss valuable time at work and job creators are still facing significant challenges with regards to hiring qualified talent for local jobs.”
