February 13, 2026 – Flagler County announces a 7-day extension of the current burn ban, effective immediately. The extension is necessary due to continued dry weather, low humidity, and elevated wildfire risk across the region. No significant improvement in conditions is forecast in the immediate term.

The burn ban prohibits the following:

  • Use, ignition, or discharge of fireworks, sparklers, flares, or other items containing any “explosive compound”

  • Open burning, including campfires, fire pits, and similar containers

  • Throwing matches, cigarettes, or other burning materials from vehicles

  • Parking vehicles with catalytic converters in high grassy areas

Flagler County will continue to extend the burn ban on a weekly basis until weather conditions, soil moisture levels, and wildfire risk indicators—such as the Keetch-Byram Drought Index—improve sufficiently to allow safe open burning.
