What is traditionally an in-person event at the African American Cultural Center in Palm Coast featuring a variety of performances throughout the program in celebration of Juneteenth is, for the second year, virtual in 2021.

Marking the day in 1865 when slaves in Galveston, Texas learned of the Emancipation Proclamation issued by President Abraham Lincoln on January 1, 1863 (the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation was issued on September 22, 1862), some two years later, June 19th or “Juneteenth” officially became a federal holiday when President Joe Biden signed into law on June 17, 2021.

The public is invited to view the 2021 Juneteenth Celebration here.
