Flagler Beach, FL, Oct. 10, 2023 – AQUAfin Swim School is North Florida’s premiere swim school led by two-time Olympian, Nimrod Shapira. AQUAfin opened in 2022 at 250 Old Kings Road South, previously known as Fitness One. AQUAfin Swim School is the only indoor swimming facility in Flagler County.

Partnered with local water safety non-profit, WaterSafe Inc., AQUAfin will host the first fall WaterSafe event on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at AQUAfin Swim School. This is a free event, open to the public, featuring real pirates, mermaids, and Olympian, Nimrod Shapira! A variety of community vendors will be at the event including Vincent’s Clubhouse, Salus Medical Training, the Flagler County Fire Department, and many more!

WaterSafe Inc. was founded in 2016 in response to the pediatric drowning incidents that occurred in Flagler County. Drowning is a preventable tragedy, and it can be prevented by 88% with formal swim lessons. WaterSafe has a swim lesson scholarship program that provides swim lessons to families who cannot afford them. The scholarship program is year-round with lessons happening at AQUAfin Swim School.

“When I was 7-years-old, my uncle saved me from drowning,” said Founder Nimrod Shapira. “The statistics for drowning in the U.S. are overwhelmingly high, especially here in Florida where we are surrounded by water. I want to play an active role in lowering these statistics and making Florida’s communities safer to live in.”
