BUNNELL, FL – As the last federal holiday of the year, Labor Day weekend will be packed with traffic, boating, and beach activities across Flagler County. That’s why the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) will be out in full force to ensure everyone remains safe while enjoying the holiday.
Between Friday, September 1st, and Monday, September 4th, FCSO units and our law enforcement partners will participate in several traffic safety and enforcement operations like ‘Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over’ and ‘Operation D.R.I.V.E.’ These operations are designed to enhance traffic and pedestrian safety during the busy holiday weekend, especially around the beachside communities.
The FCSO Taxi/Patrol and roadside message boards will be deployed across the county, while FCSO Traffic/Motor Units will target speeding and aggressive driving in crash-prone locations.
On the water, the Florida Wildlife Commission (FWC) and FCSO’s Marine Unit will team up to conduct high-visibility patrols along the Intracoastal Waterway and canals to monitor for boaters under the influence and those who are not operating marine vessels safely. Deputies on ATVs will also patrol Flagler County’s sandy shores and parking lots for suspicious persons, vehicles, or illegal activities.
We encourage residents to do their part in preventing crime. Lock your car doors and hide your valuables in the trunk, especially in beach access areas. Never leave your keys in your car, as you might find your vehicle missing after a day at the beach. Together, we can prevent crimes of opportunity.
