Flagler Beach, FL (July 31, 2023) – Kim Carney, longtime resident and former 3 term Flagler Beach City Commissioner (2011-2020) announced today that she will run for the Flagler County Board of County Commission District 3. “I have found that many times our government officials act as a separate entity. I try to focus on the needs and wants of the people that elected me” explains Carney.

She has been part of the community in leadership roles since 2005.  She has been active in many community initiatives like Rotary, the Flagler Auditorium (now Fitzgerald Performing Arts Center), Open Door Ministries, Idlewood Club, Flagler Open Arms Recovery Services, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Flagler Beach Historical Museum.

She holds a Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) from Western NE College in Springfield, MA and Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology from Fitchburg State College in Fitchburg, MA.

Kim and her husband moved to Flagler Beach in 2000.  “We could have moved to any city on the U.S. east coast.  We found Flagler Beach and we loved it”.

Carney is motivated to serve in a leadership role to better manage growth and hold taxes in line.

“We have to protect our special quality of life here.”
