Hosting their annual free fishing clinic for kids interested in learning to fish on Saturday, Hershel King Park was the place to be for families ready to try their hand at the timeless sport.

Led by the Flagler Sportfishing Club, the annual event draws hundreds of youth from Flagler and the surrounding counties with the lure of a free rod and reel at the end mixed with mini-instruction stations teaching the basics of everything from tying a knot to casting a net, with the final stop a trip to the waterway for a catch and release fishing session with club members.

“I want to give my deepest gratitude to Mike Vickers of Hammock Bait and Tackle and the Club’s VP, along with the exceptional volunteers from the Flagler Sportfishing Club,” said President Adam Morley.

Supported by club donors and sponsors, the annual event introduces young children to fishing in an effort to teach responsible habits and create lifelong anglers.

“The event brought not only children but also fostered a love for nature and outdoor activities,” said Morley. “We applaud their commitment to empowering the next generation of anglers and strengthening the bonds within our community.”
