BUNNELL, FL – During the Florida Sheriffs Association’s (FSA) semi-annual meeting of Florida Sheriffs held in Tampa on July 23 – 25, 2023, Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly was elected by his fellow Sheriffs to be the Chairman of the Board of Directors. This is the first time in the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office’s 106-year history that a Flagler County Sheriff has been elected to lead the FSA’s Board of Directors. During the closing banquet, Sheriff Staly and the Officers and Directors of FSA were sworn into their respective office by Immediate Past President and Hernando County Sheriff Nienhuis.

“It is an honor to have been elected by my fellow Florida Sheriffs to serve them as the Chair of the Board of Directors,” said Sheriff Staly. “I’m excited to continue working with our outstanding Florida Sheriffs in my new role as we work together to make Florida the safest state in the nation for our citizens.”
Sheriff Staly has served on the FSA Board of Directors for the last 3 years and served as Vice-Chair of FSA’s Board of Directors since 2022.
Other FSA Officers sworn-in by Hernando County Sheriff Nienhuis include: President: Sheriff Bill Leeper, Nassau County; Vice President: Sheriff Bill Prummell, Charlotte County; Secretary Sheriff Dennis Lemma, Seminole County; Treasurer: Sheriff Billy Woods, Marion County and Immediate Past President, Sheriff Al Nienhuis, Hernando County.
