Not sure if you’ve noticed but there’s been a ton of complaining going on lately. Everybody seems to be mad about something. If it’s not politics, it’s the trash bins. It seems to be  non-stop.

On Saturday I challenged people to post or respond to social media with a positive rather than a negative for three days. It only takes three days to make a habit and hopefully some people are on the third day and starting to reprogram their brains.

If you’re not one of those people and woke up on the wrong side of Monday, maybe one of these will help.

  1. Happiness is not by chance, but by choice. – Jim Rohn. (Decide to be happy today. For all of our sakes.)

  2. You make a life out of what you have, not by what you’re missing. – Kate Morton. (If your recycle bin is still missing, be thankful you have a trash can.)

  3. You cannot change what you are, only what you do. – Phillip Pullman. (Go out there an choose to do something nice for somebody else. Instant gratification.)

  4. Though must gather thine own sunshine. – Nathaniel Hawthorne. (For real. Nobody can put that zing in your step but you. Put on some good music and dance or go outside for a walk.)

  5. Do anything, but let it produce joy. – Walt Whitman. (Go do something that makes you happy. Anything.)

Wise Man Bonus: Most folks are about as happy as they make up their minds to be. – Abraham Lincoln.

Make up your mind to be happy. Stop looking to find fault in everything and everyone. I challenge you to do it for three days straight and see if it doesn’t make a difference.
