May 22, 2023 – Residents from throughout Flagler County will have two opportunities to attend meetings – 5 p.m. June 19 at the Board of County Commissioners meeting or at 9 a.m. June 20 at the Palm Coast City Council meeting – to learn the results of the feedback provided through the “Planning Our Parks” initiative that will result in a unified, countywide Parks and Recreation Master Plan.

“This has been a remarkable testament to the power of unity and shared vision,” said County Administrator Heidi Petito of the past several months that the diverse stakeholders, both at the county and city levels have worked collaboratively with consultants from BerryDunn and RRC Associates that respectively led the project and performed the survey and data collection. “Together, we are able to create an enduring legacy of beauty, recreation, and connection for generations to come, and, overall, better ways to serve the community.”

BerryDunn consultants will make the presentation that will include results from both the mailed and open-link surveys, data collected from facility and park inventories, as well as other project analysis.

The survey was mailed to a random sampling of 4,500 households within the City of Palm Coast and unincorporated areas of Flagler County to collect statistically valid results. The open-link survey provided all residents with the opportunity to provide feedback. The results of the two surveys were kept separate, but each of the surveys responses provided valuable insights.

“We’re excited for an inclusive and comprehensive Parks and Recreation Master Plan to serve as a blueprint for the entire community,” said Palm Coast City Manager Denise Bevan. “This will give us information about where we need to improve, how we can grow Parks and Recreation responsibly, and what additional programs and recreational activities the community desires.”

The presentation will be published on the Palm Coast website and the Flagler County website after the two meetings.

The Flagler County Board of County Commissioners meeting is held at the Government Services Building, located at 1769 E. Moody Boulevard, Bunnell. The Palm Coast City Council meetings are held at the Council Chambers, located next to City Hall at 160 Lake Avenue.
