BUNNELL, FL – Three exceptional students who attend Flagler County Schools are recognized by the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) as a “Great Kid.” Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly met with each of those students on Wednesday, March 15, 2023, and presented them with their awards.

The “Great Kid” Award is presented monthly to one elementary, middle, and high school student who shows respect to their peers, helps others, works hard in academics, and represents themselves and the school well. The recipients are nominated by FCSO’s School Resource Deputies and employees of Flagler Schools.

“I congratulate each of these amazing students who represent their schools and our students in Flagler County so well,” said Sheriff Staly. “This is a way to recognize our kids that make the right decisions that you rarely hear about.”

Below is a summary of each student and why they received the Great Kid award.

Larry Covington, Bunnell Elementary School

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office recognizes Larry for his great attitude and his respectful personality towards his teachers and classmates. He’s dependable, hard-working and always determined to succeed. Larry is responsible and is an enthusiastic student who provides guidance to others always setting a great example for his peers to follow! Larry is truly a Great Kid and well deserving of this award!

Makayla Golding, Indian Trails Middle School

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office recognizes Indian Trails Middle School student Makayla Alema Golding for her positive attitude and leadership skills. She is a role model to her peers and is always respectful, responsible and is an enthusiastic student who provides guidance to others. Makayla sets the example of a true Mustang and is worthy of receiving this recognition. We are lucky to have such an outstanding young lady as part of our school family!

Kamisha Lewis, Matanzas High School

The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office recognizes Kamisha Lewis for being an enthusiastic, dedicated, hard-working senior at Matanzas High School who would like to pursue a career in the nursing field when she graduates. She is not only a full-time student but also works after school in the nursing field to obtain knowledge and experience in her desired career.  We are lucky to have such an outstanding young lady as part of our school family and look forward to her bright future!
