VMA (Volusia Manufacturers Association) is pleased to host the 2021 Robot Brawl on Saturday, October 2nd from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Jackie Robinson Ballpark, located at 110 East Orange Ave., Daytona Beach.

Students from eight area schools will enter a total of 31 robots that the students have built for a chance to ‘brawl’ with each other. Prizes include a $1,000 grand prize, a $500 second prize, and a $250 third place prize.

“The students definitely put their robot building skills to the test,” said VMA President & CEO Jessica Lovatt.  “One of the main goals of the Robot Brawl of course is to show these students that a career in manufacturing is a viable option after graduation,” Jessica added.

The Robot Brawl will be a multiple-round, Single-elimination competition where points will be earned by how much damage is inflicted on the other robot during each 90-second round. If they disable the other robot, it’s an automatic win.

This is a full SPARC compliant tournament, (http://sparc.tools/) open to Volusia County Schools, Flagler County Schools, and other teams around the state. It’s a multiple weight class bot competition that allows spinners, vertical and horizontals, and potentially “fire” (non-damaging sparks).

The schools participating in this year’s event include; Burns Science and Technology School, Flagler Palm Coast High School, Deltona Middle School, New Smyrna Beach High School, Spruce Creek High, T Dewitt Taylor Middle High, DeLand High School, and Pine Ridge High School.

There will be a Bot Spot family zone with exciting science happenings!

General admission tickets are available for $5 per person in advance and $10 at the door or a family ticket for $10 in advance and $20 at the door and may be purchased by visiting: https://www.ticketreturn.com/prod2/BuyNew.asp?EventID=319956#.YUIIc7hKhPY.
