BUNNELL, Fla. – On Saturday, July 18, Next Chapter Support Services welcomed individuals with autism and related disabilities to its monthly community workshop at Bridges Methodist Church from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

This month’s event focused on summer safety preparedness, providing participants with practical knowledge and hands-on activities to help them stay safe during Florida’s hottest and stormiest months.

During the workshop, participants learned about:

Heat safety and recognizing the signs of heat exhaustion and heat stroke
Lightning safety and what to do before, during, and after a thunderstorm
Emergency evacuation planning
The science behind lightning through engaging, interactive experiments
How to prepare for emergencies by assembling their own personalized emergency preparedness bags to take home.

The workshop combined education with interactive learning, allowing participants to practice important safety skills in a supportive, engaging environment. Through hands-on activities and visual learning opportunities, attendees built confidence while learning practical strategies they can use at home and in their communities.
