BUNNELL, Fla. — The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a sexual predator who was found during Operation Offenders: Endgame to have absconded from his residence. The arrest of the predator, Jamie Evans, 43, of Deland, brings the total arrests made in operation to 43.
On Aug. 27, an enforcement team attempted to contact Evans at his registered permanent address in Bunnell to conduct a compliance check and verify his sexual predator registration information. Detectives did not find anyone at the residence but contacted the homeowner by telephone, who advised that he had evicted Evans, who had been a renter, from the residence on July 31. Evans had last registered the address on May 31 and had not registered a new address. Detectives determined he had absconded in violation of his registration requirements.
On Aug. 31, detectives were notified that Evans was at the FCSO Detention Administration and Visitation Center attempting to update his registration. Detectives responded and spoke to Evans, who claimed that after his eviction he had been sneaking back into the residence at night without the homeowner’s knowledge but had been staying in Deland with his girlfriend since Aug. 20.
Detectives arrested Evans for failure of a sexual predator to report a change in permanent residence. He was transported down to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility, where he is being held on a $20,000 bond.
“I guess he thought he should register after hearing about Operation Offenders: Endgame and that we were looking for him, but that doesn’t change the fact he violated the law by failing to update his address when he was evicted like he was required to do,” said Sheriff Rick Staly.
