A1A, FLORIDA (November 14, 2022) – Less than a week ago the annual A1A Super Scenic Garage Sale was in doubt with the approach of Tropical Storm Nicole set to batter the Florida coastline.
With damage to portions of the Super Scenic Garage Sale route, which spans four Florida Scenic Highways from Nassau County to Volusia County along A1A, in St. Johns, Flagler and Volusia, inquiries on Thursday and Friday had event organizers from the Friends of A1A in a holding pattern.
Thanks to the rapid repairs done by the Florida Department of Transportation under the direction of FDOT Secretary Jared Perdue, P.E. and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, the state’s coastal artery and nationally designated All-American Road was reopened to traffic in record time.
“We’re ecstatic over the incredible job done by FDOT District Two and Five. We’re proud to be part of the Florida Scenic Highways Program and showcase our byway communities along four different Florida Scenic Highways with this collaborative event,” said Friends of A1A Byway Program Administrator Danielle Anderson.
“It’s something that people look forward to each year, whether a shopper or seller. Among the emails confirming the event is still on are people from New York and Miami, so we’re happy reports of Hurricane Ian and Tropical Storm Nicole’s impact are not deterring visitors from heading our way.”
Registration closes on Thursday evening for the annual sale and the official 2022 Super Scenic Garage Sale Map will be released at noon on Friday at www.scenica1a.org.
