Palm Coast, FL – He’s Flagler’s go-to guy for weather and safety. You may have even seen him performing at karaoke back in the day. With a love for railroads, Dr. Who and mermaids, Bob Pickering or “BP” gives The Most Interesting Man in the World a run for his money most any day of the week.
This week he’ll be the guest speaker for the Tuesday Talks hosted by the Palm Coast Historical Society, sharing his experiences as an employee of the world’s very first oceanarium – Marineland.
Hired at the age of 16 in the 1980’s, after coming of age, Bob was one of the last divers to use the old fashioned ‘hardhat’ at the Marineland attraction, that had been in use by divers since 1938. From what it felt like for his very first dive, to watching the dolphins swim by, top deck shows, and the day the toilets exploded, don’t miss Bob’s firsthand, behind-the-scenes account of history as he lived it.
Palm Coast Historical Society’s Tuesday Talks are open to the public and free, starting at 6:30 pm.
