FLAGLER BEACH, FL — The 24th Annual Tommy Tant Memorial Surf Classic returns October 23–25, 2026, just south of the Flagler Beach Pier. What began in 1999 as a community’s response to the loss of Tommy Tant—a local surfer who passed away unexpectedly the year before—has grown into one of the longest-running surf traditions on the East Coast. This year carries particular weight: the contest turns 24, the same age Tommy was when he passed. It’s a milestone, and a reminder of why we gather each fall—to remember those who have gone before us, celebrate those beside us, and empower the ones coming up next.

The 2026 Classic marks a homecoming of its own. For the first time, the weekend kicks off in the event’s new permanent home, Craeft Surf Studio, directly across from the contest site.

The contest runs three full days, with opening heats on Friday, across 19 divisions for all ages and skill levels. The event includes a signature raffle of high-quality goods donated by local businesses and brands, live painting, and AdventHealth physicians on-site helping athletes stretch and prepare between heats.

A new highlight arrives Saturday afternoon: a Tow-At session, where a jet ski whips local professional surfers into waves to launch airs—a showcase of the talent based right here in Flagler Beach, and a vivid example of why the Classic invests in its athletes. Over the years, the event has raised more than $200,000 for the community. Today, that support centers on the next generation: scholarships for local students and grants through its Fellows Program that help local pro surfers advance their careers.

“My brother was a big supporter of my career, so it’s exciting to watch our Fellows Program grow into its second year and to celebrate it with two of our Fellows in the Tow-At session.” —Will Tant, event director and Tommy’s younger brother
