Bunnell, FL – The Flagler County Education Foundation and the Flagler County School District are proud to announce that Matanzas High School has been awarded a $100,000 Frederick A. DeLuca Career Academy Grant, to be distributed over two years. The awarded project will significantly boost local Career and Technical Education (CTE) by preparing students for the modern workforce around advance manufacturing and industrial technician skills.
“A grant of this magnitude represents a transformational investment in workforce development in Flagler County”, states Teresa Rizzo, Executive Director. “By expanding opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience, industry-relevant skills, and exposure to high-demand careers, we are not only preparing them for successful futures but also strengthening the talent pipeline that will support our local economy for years to come. This is exactly the type of meaningful investment the Flagler County Education Foundation works to bring to our schools and community.”
The Career Catalyst Program is designed specifically to support the establishment or expansion of career academies and CTE programs.
Through this funding, the Industrial Engineering Academy will deliver direct impact across three areas:
-
Career Academy Expansion: Establishing and growing dedicated, state-of-the-art CTE programming at Matanzas High School.
-
Workforce Readiness: Connecting students directly to targeted educational pathways required for high-skill, high-wage jobs in Florida.
-
Hands-on Manufacturing, Engineering and Technician Education: Providing students with the advanced tools, industry-aligned curriculum, and practical skills needed to literally design Florida’s future.
