FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. – Roger Smith, Ph.D., historian and adjunct professor of American History at Flagler College and the University of Florida, will speak at the American Association of University Women Flagler County (AAUW) meeting on Saturday March 14th at 11:00 am at the Cypress Knoll Golf Club in celebration of Women’s History Month. The meeting is open to the public.

Dr. Smith’s talk “Women of the American Revolution: Lost Voices of America’s First Generation” tells the stories of women from each of the original colonies. These are women of all races, free and enslaved, who dared to resist the norms of eighteenth-century western culture. They took a stand for their beliefs in an era when women had few rights and no say in political decisions or other matters of importance.

Dr. Smith speaks nationally about his revolutionary war research. A selection of his books will be available for purchase at the meeting.
