Flagler Schools had four schools recognized as an Apple Distinguished School for the 2023–2026 program term. Flagler Palm Coast High School, Matanzas High School, Bunnell Elementary School, and Wadsworth Elementary School were selected for this distinction based on their commitment to continuous innovation in education and using Apple products to create exemplary learning practices.

Apple hosted the 2023 Apple Distinguished Schools Leadership Academy in Orlando from November 8th – 10th. Leaders from Apple Distinguished Schools from all over the world attended this learning event.

Part of the Leadership Academy included tours of innovative schools. Two Flagler Schools, Bunnell Elementary and Matanzas High Schools hosted leaders from other Apple Distinguished Schools and the Apple Leadership Team. The guests, including many international leaders, had the opportunity to learn more about our schools and then toured several classrooms to see learning in action.

A group of educational leaders from Maylasia traveled over 30 hours to attend this event and had the opportunity to tour Matanzas High School and were impressed with all of the opportunities our students have access to in school. Visitors were welcomed with a continental breakfast prepared by our culinary students and enjoyed the sounds of “Blue Steel” while waiting for the tour to begin. We visited the on-campus student-run bank, criminal justice program, and other classrooms.

Bunnell Elementary hosted another group of Apple Distinguished Schools leaders in the afternoon. Visitors were amazed by what they saw! Teachers incorporate technology into their lessons, empowering students to lead, learn, and thrive, discover new opportunities, and make their world a better place.

“Flagler Schools has taken pride in how we weave technology into our classrooms,” says Superintendent LaShakia Moore. “Our community has supported this effort for more than twenty years, and this just goes to show how our students and educators have embraced innovating our classrooms and how this prepares our students for the high-tech opportunities waiting for them.”
