Palm Coast – Cultural arts help explain and understand the world we live in. It encourages creativity and provides immense value to the artist and the viewer.

The City of Palm Coast supports Cultural Arts and has offered an annual Cultural Arts Financial Assistance Grant program for several years. The grant program provides funding for cultural arts programs and/or events that are conducted within the City of Palm Coast by Flagler County-based non-profit organizations.

As funding is expected to become available for Fiscal Year 2024 for events or programs taking place between October 1, 2023, and September 30, 2024, the City is looking for grantees.  As always, preference is given to first-time applicants that meet the grant requirements.

The City has updated the Cultural Art Grant into two tiers for the upcoming fiscal year. Tier One focuses on Economic Impact and Tier Two focuses on Local Organizations. The criteria for each tier is below.

Tier One:

  • Educate the public on the unique characteristics of a defined cultural group.
  • Introduce a distinct, traditional activity, event, or program of a defined cultural group.
  • Promote arts and art appreciation through various media, including but not limited to literature, dance, film, visual arts, graphic arts, musical arts, theater arts, etc.
  • Present a cultural activity, event, or program that impacts the region through economic activity and overnight stay in Flagler County.
  • Events and programs must utilize local hotels for their attendees.

Tier Two:

  • Educate the public on the unique characteristics of a defined cultural group.
  • Introduce a distinct, traditional activity, event, or program of a defined cultural group.
  • Promote arts and art appreciation through various media, including but not limited to literature, dance, film, visual arts, graphic arts, musical arts, theater arts, etc.
  • Present a new cultural activity, event, or program to the community.

Organizations that meet the grant criteria should email the City’s Parks & Recreation Staff Assistant at KGAnderson@palmcoastgov.com no later than August 25, 2023. In the email, please include Organization Name, Applicant’s Name, Phone Number, and Email Address. Please also indicate if you are applying for Tier One or Tier Two.

All applicable organizations will then receive an invitation to apply for the grant. All requirements for the grant will be included in the electronic application provided in the invitation. Applications are to be completed electronically. The deadline to submit your completed application is September 1, 2023, by 6 p.m.

The Cultural Arts Review Committee will meet on September 8, 2023, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. The grant will also be discussed at two Palm Coast City Council meetings: A workshop on September 12, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. and a business meeting on September 12, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. All meetings will take place in the council chambers in the community wing of City Hall at 160 Lake Avenue, Palm Coast.
